New Delhi: All India Muslim Forum has decided to extend support to Mr. Amresh Mishra, Ulema Council’s Lok Sabha candidate from Lucknow. The Muslim Forum yesterday organized a meeting comprising about 500 of its office-bearers and workers in Lucknow and announced the decision in the program in which Mr. Amresh Mishra and his team were invited.

“Initially Muslim Forum was to contest 8 Parliamentary seats in U.P. but in order to avoid any clash with like-minded parties it fielded only one, Mr. Syed Sarfaraz in Chandauli. In Lucknow too, it did not field its candidate so that Muslim masses who have now started nurturing an ambition to extricate themselves from the so-called tactical voting of defeating B.J.P. only, may not get confused as already Azamgarh-based Ulema Council had fielded the veteran Journalist Mr. Amresh Mishra,” the Muslim Forum said.

Addressing the gathering the President of All India Muslim Forum, Syed Rafat asserted that “his party has been asserting for more than a decade that if Indian Muslims want to carve out their dignified place as a distinct electoral entity, they will have to come out of the nasty clutches of the fraudulent secular parties who simply exploit them ( Muslims) in the name of defeating B.J.P., whereas their clash for power has strengthened fascist forces. He appealed to Muslims and all secular people to vote for the Uleama Council candidate, irrespective of whoever is winning or losing.”

Mr. Amresh Mishra recollected how different political parties are adamant to defame and demoralize him as he is crusading against the injustices being meted out to Muslims. He stressed that he was shocked over how the innocent youths of Azamgarh have been shot dead at Batla House encounter and the entire region has been identified with terrorism.

In his concluding remarks, the Chairman of All India Muslim Forum, Dr. M. K. Sherwani emphasized that now the political consciousness amongst Muslims is fast growing, and the time does not seem to be far off when they can no more be deceived by the political parties in the name of 'secularism' and 'communalism'. “Under the circumstances, he said, the only alternative before the Muslim community is that they must usher in an era of alliances with different political outfits on the basis of their electorally consolidated vote bank, instead of being the vote bank in the name of fictitious secular declarations,” he said.

The demonstration-cum-rally organised in Lucknow under the aegis of Ulema Council was a refreshing change. The reason was that Hindu Saints (Sadhus and Sants) were present in substantial number at the stage and also among the participants.Though the issues were varied. The protesters were angry over defaming Azamgarh district and their placards carried messages blaming politicians who divide the society on communal lines. But there was a notable difference this time as there were many Saffron robes in the gathering."We will stand united with the Muslims who have been deprived of their rights," said Swamy Haridayal Mishra of Hindu group of Ayodhya, a town of temples on the bank of the Saryu river, reported The Hindu. He had come along with his band of sants.Ironically this wasn't adequately reported and these photographs were not published. What was printed was the stone pelting incident in a village when a bus carrying the participants on its way back was targeted the next day.Since mid-80s when the Ayodhya movement and Rath Yatra led to polarisation, much water has flown down the Ganges (and the Saryu). Many saints and Hindus in Ayodhya also see the political agenda behind dividing Hindus and Muslims. The Sadhu-Sants and Ulama-Maulvis of Oudh and United Provinces had fought together against British rule in 1857 and had scripted saga of sacrifices together. They must take a lead again to recreate the harmony. It is quite clear that the religious figures are no less fed up of the atmosphere of suspicion and hatred that was created between communities that have lived together and side by side in the Indo-gangetic plane for over a millennium. Most of them understand true essence of religion and spirituality. And if they guide the society by showing the masses the message of amity and true religion sans fundamentalism, it can definitely bring a change.Gestures like speaking and standing for each other can also go a long way towards changing mindsets.

Ulema Council to take Ulema Express now to LucknowBy Mumtaz Alam Falahi, TwoCircles.net,New Delhi: After holding a massive protest on January 29 in New Delhi against witch hunting of the Muslim community and illegal arresting of Azamgarh Muslim youths, and demanding the Congress-led UPA government to stop the trend, the Uttar Pradesh Ulema Council will now put the same demand before the Uttar Pradesh government of Bahujan Samaj Party. The Ulema Council has decided to take two trains to Lucknow on February 20 – one from Azamgarh and another from Jaunpur – to press the state government led by Mayawati which came to power with massive support of the Muslim community but did nothing to stop injustice to Muslims in the state.Talking to TwoCircles.net, Dr Tasleem Rahmani, president of Muslim Political Council of India, who played key role in organizing the Delhi protest, the greatest on the Batla House encounter and its follow-ups, said two special trains will leave Azamgarh and Jaunpur on February 19 and will reach Lucknow on February 20. He said the protest is meant to press the state government to rein in the state police and ATS which have been falsely implicating Muslim youths from Azamgarh in terror cases. On December 21 Talha Amir, son of Ulema Council leader Maualana Amir Rashadi, was picked from Nagpur and implicated in false cases, but the police could not prove the allegations and the court released the youth. To empower the Muslim community, Dr Rahmani said, Ulema Council is thinking of fielding its candidates in the coming Lok Sabha elections in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The council has already decided to fight from Azamgarh and Lalganj seats.

Hundreds of Muslims from Azamgarh demand probe into Batla shootout Submitted by admin4 on 29 January 2009 - 6:03pm. By IANS, New Delhi : Hundreds of Muslims from Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, gathered at the Jantar Mantar here Thursday, demanded an end to the police harassment of youths from the community and a judicial enquiry into the Batla House shootout last year, in which two alleged terrorists were killed. The protesters, numbering around 3,000, gathered at Parliament Street here and raised slogans against the politicians and the police. "We want an impartial time-bound judicial enquiry into the Batla House encounter by a sitting Supreme Court Judge. We also want an end to the police atrocities on youth of Azamgarh on the pretext of tackling terror," said Maulana Amir Rashadi Madni, convener of Ulama Council that organised the Ulema Express. "All those found guilty in the judicial enquiry should be put on trial. Though Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma died (in the Batla House shootout) but the Ashok Chakra given to him should be taken back. The protest has just started, it will slowly and slowly spread across country," Madni told IANS. Madni also made clear the council's political plans. "We will fight elections on two seats - Azamgarh and Lalganj - in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. We are in discussion with several big and small political parties," he said. "Muslims have supported others for nearly 60 years and now they should support us. We have made clear to the political parties that the formation of a third front can only be under our leadership," he added. The protesters, ranging from students to the elderly, arrived at the Old Delhi Railway Station around 1.30 a.m. Thursday in a special train that set off from Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh town around 12.30 p.m. Wednesday. The council has paid Rs. 1.4 million for booking the train and Rs.300,000 as a security deposit for the journey. The train reached nearly three hours before the scheduled time of arrival, as it was not allowed to halt at any station between Kanpur and New Delhi for security reasons. Besides Madni, numerous leaders from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi also addressed the protesters "We want the government to take action on our demands before the parliamentary elections. We will support only that political party which will work for us," said S.Q.R. Ilyas, the joint convener of Co-ordination Committee for Indian Muslims (CCIM). CCIM, a joint group of several Muslim organisations, has supported the protest in the capital. "Political empowerment of Muslims is necessary as those elected by the community to work for their welfare and cause generally don't work once elected," Ilyas added. The Muslim leaders criticised the Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party and said it's time that they came up with a common strategy and empower their community. Protesters, most of whom were wearing skullcaps, raised slogans such as 'Azamgarh Zindabad', 'Ulema Council Zindabad' and 'Nara-e-taqbeer Allah-o-Akbar'. They were also holding placards. Some of the placards read, "We are students, not terrorists" and "Mere kaatil ko kaun giraftar kare, uske to ghar mein bandook bhi sarkari hai (who will arrest my killers, when their weapons are of the government)". "We just want a judicial probe into the Batla House encounter and people also should stop blaming youth of Azamgarh for everything," a 20-year-old boy Abusham Azmi, who had a placard in hand and was raising slogans, told IANS. Azmi is a college student and has come from Sarai Meer in Azamgarh area. However, several others refused to talk, saying that they have been asked not to speak to the media. Nearly 250 students from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Milia Islamia and Delhi University also took part in the protest march. The council demanded an impartial enquiry into every "encounter" in the last 10 years. Indian Muslims and National Integrity Submitted by R.Alamsha (not verified) on 1 February 2009 - 6:37am. I always use to wonder what's the contribution of Indian Muslims and wish if we could contribute anything great for our nation. After partition, the Hindu ruling class arrived at a consensus that Indian Muslims are a threat for the national integrity and pushed us out of the mainstream and we were economically crippled. There is not a single Muslim officer in NSG even today, speaks a lot for itself. It is not a coincidence that two of the child actors of slumdog millionaire were happened to be Muslims but just walk in to the slums and you will find Ismails and Rubinas, dime a dozen. No one can deny that more than 80% of India's Muslim population lives in ghettos and slums. During my soul search, suddenly i realised that there is something extraordinary Indian Muslims have contributed silently. Imagine India without Muslims. In my honest opinion, India would not have existed today without Muslims. The Hinduism is deep rooted in numerous caste and subcaste system and but for Muslims, India would have descended into various caste wars and Hindus would have started killing Hindus. This is the reason, Mangolian and Moghuls could easily invade India and ruled it for around 1000 years. The caste system came very handy for these invaders to control their vast empire and because of this we find most of the Moghul kings appointed Brahmans as their ministers and advisors. It is a wrong perception that Moghuls brought Islam for India. In fact, most of them never practiced any Islamic values and there is ample proof that they were mostly preoccupied with wine, women, music, dance, art and poetry. They preserved Hinduism and Hindu caste system because it served their purpose. The Moghul emperors always kept Islam at a distance because it prohibits promiscuity, lavishness, vices and preached virtues and equality. After this realisation, i can proudly say that we, Indian Muslims are the foundation for national integrity and we deserve our legitamate place in building and leading our nation. reply It is utter Nonsence .. Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on 1 February 2009 - 10:53pm. Dear Sir, It has become an usual practice for Muslims and Chrtians to say again and again that they had helped in eliminating caste system in India. Howevr the truth is that Hinduism is not a rigid religion like Islam which is detained to practice the preachings of 1300 years old. Hindus had been the most open minded community unlike Muslims to who run to Ulemas to ask whether they can do this or that or not whether they are doing it right or not. Unlike Muslims Hindus had never found themsleves tied down to any books or preachings every Hindu had been free to practice his life as he wished. That is why so many saints and reformers had born in this country (and no Fatwa has been issued against them ...) and had contributed their bit in reforming the society. Even within Hinduism there had been many pants that have denounced the evil practice of Caste System. Thus there had never been a need for an imported religion to come down here and clean the system here. Even before Allah the almighty had chosen to send Prophet Muhammad to earth Buddhism born in India which had denouncd the caste system. Thus dear sir you (muslims) need not to feel that if Islam had not happened India would still have practicing Caste system or any other such evil practices. In fact the 800 + 200 years slavery (as you yourself had agreed) had only delayed the process of reforming Hinduism in this country as the ruling elite preferred to patronise the upper castes for dividing India and to rule it. Had these imported religions not happened in India, India would have seen an enviable society by now.Having said all this I never doubt (like you) the contribution of yours or Muslims or for that matter of any religions to this country. Every citizen of India like you are equally responsible for the development of the country. One should not feel inferior to any other in this country as all of us are equal contributors for the mother nation. But my friend please do refrain from making false statements again and again that Hinduism is filled of evil practices and Islam in modern (even though it is still practising the barbareous public (hanging)death penalties, stoning the criminals to death etc in the name of Shariyat in the 21st century also). We Hindus are always ready to reform and look forward but will my Muslim friends say anything against Fatwas ? No they can not they take religion so serious an issue that tey are bond to support and obey it even though they are not convinced . Moslems have protested against terror attacks. You are mis-informed. I can give you a hundred instances. Moslems participated in candle-light march in Mumbai and other places. They even joined in large numbers the funeral procession of the great martyr Hemant Karkare. Muslems even issued religious edict against terrorism. Now come to Afzal Guru. The court's decision must be implemented, and it will certaily be. It is only a matter of time. Now you will ask why it is being delayed. Because the fascist forces have been misinforming you. You should be aware that clemency petition take a lot of time to be decided. I don't know why. We should ask the govt to expedite this process in general. Why do you insist only Afzal's case? Only because it serves your polical ends? Even the culprit in Rajeev Gandhi's assasination case has not been hanged yet. Why no demand for that. In fact there are 28 pending clemecy petitions. Afzal's will be decide when 26 such petitions are decided. So why this hue and cry over this? reply Respond to the false allegations. Submitted by milano (not verified) on 1 February 2009 - 11:44am. Mr. John Sudhaker, May be you are sleeping, or pretending to be so. May be you doesn’t read the news daily. Who issued fatwa condemning the terrorist activities from Deoband. In Delhi also Muslim Ulema issued fatwa against such activities, for what purpose the learned ones from the Muslim community assembled in Hyderabad at end of the last year? In which swamis from the Hindu community also participate. How often do we ask Hindus to condemn violence against Christians? Terrorists are terrorists. There are no Muslim terrorists, Hindu terrorists or Christian terrorists. This is a term that was coined by US, for their own reasons. Why IRA terrorists are not called Christian terrorists? What would you call LTTE terrorists? Why only Muslim leaders should be required to condemn perpetrators of violence. We as a society must realise two things. Number one...Please do not assign religion to terrorists...they are criminals and need to be treated as such. Secondly let us not jump to conclusions. If police takes years to arrest terrorists, how can we in seconds confirm that arrested individuals are terrorists? Emotional knee jerk reactions will not help in curbing criminal activities. It is too serious an issue to be treated so trivially. reply Take a right decision Submitted by Mohammad Saleem (not verified) on 31 January 2009 - 3:48pm. To protest is one's right. You did your job. Now if the govt refuses your demands, teach them a lesson in the elections. Play power politics as they do with you. But lauching muslims' own political party is not a feasible action. It has never and will not succeed. Be non political, in the limited sense of electoral politics, and go to every city, pursue molems to vote against the congress and its allies. Now, moslems will fear that the right force will gain out of it. Reject this idea, because this is the fear that the congress and 'secular' forces takes advantage of. This is a matter of happiness that at last, the people of Azamgarh leading the Indian muslims in democratic way.The speakers at rally were learned one.The only problem we have that we criticised the various political parties. It is better to keep complete silence about the views of Muslims regarding other parties. The announcement of the Ulema council to contest election on two seats is a welcom step.In my opinion the Ulema council should extend the contesting of election on all those seats independently where they have chance to win.For the candidate it is better to give chance to all those candidates who showed the will power to save the interest of the nation and community. The need of time is also to have a "political empowerment fund " to help all those candidates financially who are friend of the interest of the community. The ulema council should extend financial support to even the candidate of differen political parties.we are not enemy of any political party.we are the people who safguard the interest of the nation.About the encounter,we have to knowck on the door of judiciary.we have nice judicial system.we will get justice. The only thing is that we continuosly knock the door.To protect the youth from encounter, the need of the time is to have a LEGAL COUNCIL on national level with local council. This council will work with Human Right bodies of national and international level. The need of time is also to work with the friendly countries who are very much concerned with the Human Right. The last i will say that be united at any cost.Choose our leader under whom we can march to get our rights.Do not allow any political leader to use us how dear he is.I hope that bright futute is waiting us. reply its too emotional. I cannot support an emotional and Jazbati group.Though He raised his voice for a good cuase but i am sorry...... Insaan Ghusse mein Aqal-o-Hosh kho deta hai.

Submitted by john (not verified) on 30 January 2009 - 1:16pm. Its too emotional . I think Maulana shouldn't be so emotional and Jazbaati. His Langueage and wordings are so emotional and not upto his standard. He sound more threatening tone, than protesting. Emotion shows the weekness of a person. Dariya mein kabhi ubaal nahi aata, choti nadiyon mein hi zeyaada tughyaani hoti hai.Be like Sea. I cannot support an emotional and Jazbati group.Though He raised his voice for a good cuase but i am sorry...... Insaan Ghusse mein Aqal-o-Hosh kho deta hai.
